Random thoughts. I do not argue anything to be set in stone on this blog. My purpose with this blog is to initiate thoughts and challenge you to think and question the things that you already believe. I think that it is only by questioning and through further thinking/research that we can grow stronger in what we believe. Hence, my purpose with posting my thoughts is for you to grow stronger in your beliefs.

Great post Peter!

I especially like how you bring out "turning to a unity focused on Christ." So many times I think we are like the disciples in Luke 24 on the road to Emmaus. Jesus was walking and talking to them, but they didn't recognize Him. He spoke and thier hearts burned within them, but they still didn't recognize Him. It wasn't until they sat and broke bread together in fellowship that God opened their eyes. I suppose we will have a hard time understanding what God is doing in the body of Christ worldwide until we allow the Holy Spirit to open our eyes and see Christ. In my opinion it will be difficult to unify with and understand Christ in His body if we don't take the time to sit down, fellowship and understand Him in His body. This ultimately means laying down our own pride, prejudice, and pre-concieved ideas of how it is supposed to be.

Personally, I sense a healthy stability come into my life when I receive of what the Holy Spirit is doing through Livets Ord.

I listened to that show on my way to work and was responding just like Jon and Sherry....mortified. I believe that a kiss is sacred. It is something you save for the "ONE". I did not always believe this as my husband said I was the "Kissing Slut" from 5 years old and up. I knew the boys liked it. As a born again believer in Christ I have learned that God gave us special gifts that are only meant for 1 person to recieve. You hold them precious to you and never give them away until the day you stand at the alter and you know in your heart God has given you the "ONE". The moment the pastor says you may kiss your bride.... hmmmmm. That is when the gift you saved is given to the "ONE" it was meant for all along. Some say this is to religious or legalistic... But I have lived the life of a woman who gave everything away and when God brought the "ONE" to me he only got the left overs. My memories are flooded with the faces my lips touched. I will never be able to look at my loving husband and say "I kept this just for you. Know one knows but you what my kiss is like. " I wish I had..

AS our 6 yr old said when asked "What does it mean to have a crush on a boy?" She simply answered-"its when you wanna be best friends with a boy"innocent enough that boy kissed her on the cheek later that week...opps. She has since moved on.

I might have kissed a boy once when I was that age. I am sure that there were boys who did a lot of kissing in my grade school, too. (I was a fast runner so I got away.)

Sad story, really. Poor kids are so confused these days. Go ahead and shoot someone, but give them a kiss?!?!? Yikes.

Anders and David,

First, Anders, this is the blog to be brief on. I do not write often due to lack of time. You are free to do the same!
I think that ID might be correct in its true sense. However, we might have lost the understanding of what ID means. An ID badge shows who I am. It is supposed to tell someone a mirror of me!
With other words, I am one with my ID, my ID is who/what I am.

Having that said, (i will study Rom 6 tonight...) I think that there is more supernaturality in the baptism than we, oftentimes, claim. While in Tulsa, VCC performed baptism after the Wednesday night service. We happened to stumble over our dear friends baptizing one of their kids. A current class I thought included the statement that baptism is merely a public statement that "I am now a Christian!" We have dematerialized the meaning of baptism!
Just as there is a great discussion on the elements of the Eucharist and the supernatural involvement, or, presence in the eucharist, I think that there is a divine act taking place in the baptism.

More later...

Dear Peter & co,
just very briefly: I think even the word “identify” is too weak. If we identify, there is still a distance between us and the object with which we are identifying. According to Romans 6, we are baptised eis, “into” Jesus Christ, into his death, we are buried with (sun) him, we are sumphutoi with his death and resurrection, the Greek word meaning “grown together with,” like two plants who are joined… Wow!
I believe that this talks about realities, they are no symbols, and the best way forward for understanding this is to meditate on texts like Rom 6!
Greetings to my friends over there!
